Where to Buy High-Quality Breeding Show Guppy in the Philippines

There are so many types of guppies in the world but most guppies available in the Philippines, probably your first guppy pet in your first tank are the most usual. They call it "Chops". It is like a low-quality kind of guppy which is a mix bred of ordinary guppy line. They are colorful but if you want to step up your game in guppy keeping, you may want to buy high-quality breeding show kind of guppy.

But for me, I love my chops guppy. They are my first fish in my very first guppy tank but I am also planning to buy a different tank and breed high-quality guppy. I have mentioned in my previous post that there are a lot of guppy breeders in the Philippines, particularly in Bulacan area, they are selling guppies for a living. Breeding guppies pays their bill. 

Correct me if I am wrong, you can sell a high quality guppy for a minimum of 500 pesos per pair. Some can be more expensive than that and in the US, they are more expensive!

Female guppies give birth almost every month, that is the reason why they are being called "Millionfish". If you will put 2 female guppies and 1 male guppy in a tank, expect that your 2 female guppies will be pregnant and give birth after few weeks! Believe it or not, female guppies can give birth from 2 to 200 fry!

The problem with guppies (I think it is also the same with most fishes) is they tend to eat their fry. I think it is their nature. To eat whatever fits in their mouth. My first set of guppy gave birth before but I was only able to save 2 of them. Every now and then, I am seeing some of my female guppies having a huge round tummy that indicates that they are pregnant. However, since I have a lot of adult fish (not just guppies) in my 20 gallon tank, I am not able to save the babies.

I will talk about some techniques on how to save guppy fry maybe in my next post but again, I am not a professional guppy keeper. I just read a lot but too lazy to execute the techniques. 

I bought a guppy tank trap in Lazada before but when I tried it, the female guppy that I put in there died in a couple of days. I think it is about stress of being alone. So from there, I decided not to care too much. 

Going back to the main topic. You can buy high-quality breeding show guppies mostly in Bulacan area. They can do meetups if you are near. I also found amazing guppies in Cartimar Pasay that will cost you 500 to 600 per pair but beware because most guppies available there are chops or mix-breed. If you are active on Facebook, you can also join guppy groups and pages where you can meet cool guppy breeders. I am talking to one and he is just waiting Koi Guppy to give birth. I hope he can give me discounts! lol!
